Green River - Desolation and Gray Canyons

Put In

Long drive down a rough road to get here. We take a wrong turn along the way and end up in the largest gas field we have ever seen. It looks like they are only a few miles from the rim. We find our way again and resolve to renew our Sierra Club membership.

6 boats 3 duckies, Dukes of Groover (Bob”1” and Val), New Yorkers (Bill and Jen), Arizonites (Cody and Renee), Special Forces (Tobias), Safety duckie (Brad), Point Man (Roger), The guy with the crazy kid, and the kid with the crazy dad (Jake and Sam), will he make it over the mountains in this storm in his airplane (Bob”2”, Deb, and Lowell), Master Commander and sidekick (Rob and Tina).

Day One

The Second Camp One 16 mile day, to a camp below Little Horse Bottom. Groover guys decide to name each camp’s groover site. This camp’s site is named “Harmony”

Launch-early
Breakfast, cinnamon roles, yogurt, and granola,
Lunch pitas, ham, turkey, swiss, chips and cookies
Dinner, Mexican Lasagna (big hit), guacamole, salsa, chips

Best buy- 14’ screenhouse.

Found a nice sandbar to camp on, weather looks iffy so we decide to head down river to a less exposed site. Some grumbling is heard since it's past 4 but turns out to be a good decision. The winds kick up and would have made that sandbar a difficult camp.
