Green River - Desolation and Gray Canyons
Day Three
10 mile day
Groover site - “Tranquility”
Breakfast, blueberry pancakes, sausage, and bacon.
Lunch, PB&J&pickles. Etc
Dinner, Fajitas followed with dancing, music, margs, and a sing along. My favorite songs – American pie and Bhoemian Rhapsody. Rob and I notice that barriers are breaking down and we are all becoming a tribe.
Day Four
12 mile day
Groover site – “Enlightened Sensations”
Breakfast Eggs McRoger and McJake
First of many good meals from Bob2 and family
Lunch, tofu turkey-hummus
Dinner, Chicken and Dumplings.

Nice hike to Petroglyphs. Now the more serious rapids begin starting with Steer Ridge. It's our first real experience with the American river rating scale. They call this a 5 out of 10. Looked to us to be a II+ using the more commonly used European system.
Sam is nearly knocked off Tobias’ boat, while Tobias is trying to help Bob”1” get unstuck from a rock (a frequent occurrence in this low water, and it was Bob 1's turn). Nice one-handed-last-second-leg-grab by Tobias and Sam is safe and sound.
Off river at 4:00 pm, tent up at 5 pm, and then it’s wander around, until dinner. Lot’s of history here at Rock Creek Camp from the Anasazi and the outlaws. Hope to go on a hike to see Butch Cassidy’s hideout and the old ranch that takes up most of this this large bottom. They say we are deeper here than the Grand is at the south rim. Feels nice and cozy being buried this deep in the earth.
